The Seattle Seahawks quarterback pinch hit for AL Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge in the fifth inning against Atlanta on Friday and swung past a 2-2 pitch from left-hander Max Fried.

After his rights were acquired by the Rangers in 2013, he attended spring training with the Rangers in 2014 and 2015.

Russell Wilson is in camp with the Yankees for spring training as, essentially, a publicity stunt. Fried threw a 93-mph chest-high fastball and Wilson lunged, hitting only air.

"He's going to be working out doing something, anyway", Carroll said.

While Carroll's scouting report may have been a creative way to deflect a question he did not want to answer, he did offer some support saying he did not think there was anything wrong with Wilson training with the Yankees during the offseason.

Cashman said he isn't "opposed" to allowing Wilson an at-bat or two during an exhibition game.

"I just felt it was time", Carroll said.

"I wasn't coming here to fool around", Wilson said. I went up there in attack mode. He loved every second of it, as did the crowd, which greeted him with a standing ovation and phone cameras raised for the occasion. He had a very effective year for us last year.
