It's been rumored for weeks now that the biggest show of the year would be returning to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and Thursday night WWE confirmed a news report from the New York Post that WrestleMania 35 will take place inside the stadium on April 7, 2019.
"When we got it [in 2013] it was everything and more [than] what we expected", said Ron VanDeVeen, the president of MetLife Stadium. WWE will also host more than a dozen community outreach events, including hospital visits and Be a STAR bullying prevention rallies, created to give back to the local region.
The news of WWE heading back to Jersey for the biggest show of the year brings back memories of the prior trips to the area. When MetLife Stadium, situated just outside New York City in East Rutherford, New Jersey, last hosted WrestleMania, in April 2013, the stadium was brand new.
