The star of "Good Will Hunting" said she will no longer support the organization following its response to a sex abuse scandal in Haiti after its 2010 quake.

When abuse is carried out "by people in positions of power, people we entrust to help and protect, it rightly sickens and disgusts and compels us to take action", she said.

"We have robust safeguarding and whistle-blowing policies and practices in place to ensure that vulnerable people are protected", he said.

Haiti's minister of planning and external cooperation, Aviol Fleurant, said on Wednesday he had summoned Oxfam representatives to a meeting on Thursday to discuss "serious sexual crimes".

"Charities and dedicated, hard-working aid workers undertake vital, lifesaving work in some of the most hard circumstances across the world", the commission's deputy chief executive David Holdsworth said.

"We regret that we did not act on Helen's concerns much quicker and with more resources", the statement said, adding it was now expanding the safeguarding team.
