"In March, the team will reveal what you can expect from us in the first half of 2018 in terms of our development and new content plans which, by the way, include a new map". Instead, it will prioritise low-ping players when filling up servers during matchmaking. The studio was previously considering matchmaking that would have a maximum allowable ping, but it think it is on to something better. Perhaps they're learning a thing or two from Fortnite: Battle Royale, and Epic Games' insanely speedy development cycle with that game, which has now overtaken PUBG as the most popular title of the year so far.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer Bluehole has confirmed that it will share a roadmap of updates for the every-man-for-himself shooter next month.
The news comes from a Steam community post, suggesting that the new map will be coming to PC first, as tends to usually be the case, although you can expect the map to surface on Xbox One at some point. They plan on new content and "extensive battle royale experiences" for "deeper and more realistic gameplay".
As EuroGamer also explains, Bluehole actually gave a hint about the new map's location previous year.

PUBG Corp.is planning to test this matchmaking starting this week in certain regions, and then it will expand that depending on how those early trials go.
