Free agent third baseman Todd Frazier is switching sides close to home, set to join the New York Mets and take over a spot that's been in flux since David Wright got injured. The deal is for two years and $17 million, pending a physical, the sources confirmed. On the season, he slashed.213/.344/.428 with 27 home runs and 76 RBI with both the White Sox and Yankees. Frazier did manage to hit a total of 56 home runs in his one-plus seasons with the White Sox, but the third baseman produced a batting average of just.220.
He replaced Chase Headley at third base as the Yankees liked Frazier's defense over Headley's.
Todd Frazier is staying in NY - just not with the same team. As a Red, Frazier posted a.257/.321/.463 slash line with 108 home runs and 324 RBIs.
The Mets made the deal a week before they open spring training in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Iago Aspas netted his 15th goal of the campaign in injury time, but it was too late for Celta to salvage a point. Alaves dealt Celta Vigo its first loss in six rounds after it scored twice early to win 2-1 at home.
Frazier, who was acquired by the New York Yankees in mid-July, will be making the move from the Bronx to Queens as the Mets look for some stability on the hot corner.
Sandy Alderson previously said while he has had some "focus" on improving the infield, the team was thinking "expansively" this offseason. "I understand the fan base's frustration and we have the same frustration".
The 31-year-old had signed a one-year, $13 million deal with the White Sox before they traded him to the Yankees. Jose Reyes would be the utility infielder.
The Mets still have Wright on the roster, but the longtime third baseman's future is in doubt after injuries and a chronic back condition limited him to 75 regular-season games over the last three years. Sluggers such as Frazier have been hit hardest as a result of the power surge since the trend has neutralized their biggest advantage over other players.
