Liverpool's routine 2-0 win over struggling Southampton left Jurgen Klopp beaming, praising what he felt was a "nearly perfect" day at St Mary's.

With just 6 minutes on the clock, a long ball forward towards Mohamed Salah saw Wesley Hoedt fluff his attempted clearance, allowing Salah to slide a perfectly-weighted ball across to the incoming Roberto Firmino on the edge of the home side's box.

The two team-mates displayed their telepathic understanding as Firmino, with his back to goal, flicked the ball into Salah's path in defence-splitting one-two.

In terms of form, Liverpool have had a mixed start to the new year with league wins away at Burnley and Huddersfield as well as becoming the first side to beat runaway league leaders Manchester City domestically this season.

Klopp will be facing a Southampton side for the ninth time since becoming Liverpool's manager in October 2015 and has only recorded two wins against them.

He wisely made a decision to remove both the buds and place them on some gym equipment before finding some help. A search of Apple's support forums turned up two reports of AirPods growing warm or hot after 30 minutes of use.

Van Dijk began the move as he cut out a cross with his head before Liverpool 'keeper Loris Karius freed another former Southampton player Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. Salah's strike was his 21st goal of the seaosn.

"Doing the right things in the right moments, reacting in a good way in the second half to a few things we didn't do too well in the first half, and scoring fantastic goals".

Even so, Southampton are unbeaten in their last four league matches, so they have perhaps turned the corner in their quest for Premier League survival.

But it wasn't his goal that wowed the Liverpool fans, but his assist for Salah's first half strike.

Pellegrino said: "I think we have to be grateful with him and now we have to think that Virgil is part of the past".
