McDaniels becomes the 20th head coach in Colts history (including interim hires) and the 12th man to hold the post since the team moved to Indianapolis in 1984.
If McDaniels does decide to snub the Colts and stay with New England, it could leave the Colts scrambling to find a new coach. Brady is the trigger man here, but McDaniels has helped to orchestrate some incredible offenses while in New England.
There is a legitimate argument to be made that McDaniels is a better coordinator than he is a head coach.
McDaniels' coaching staff is already taking shape. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was left answering questions on why his unit couldn't stop Eagles, who gained 538 in the 41-33 victory.
Instead McDaniels has to worry about playing the Pats: the Colts and Pats are scheduled to play a game (date/time TBD) at Gillette Stadium next season.
Formula 1 Bans Use of Grid Girls
May as well just get use to your children's gritted teeth every time you open your fat, opinionated mouth on anything. Darts took a similar decision this month, banning the women who walk on with the players before matches.
With McDaniels now in place, the Colts brass will hope he can mold Andrew Luck back into one of the elite quarterbacks in the league while steering the team back in the right direction after a few disappointing seasons.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported that during the week before the Super Bowl, McDaniels took a wrong turn out of his hotel and ended up inside the Mall of America. Following a stop in St. Louis as the Rams coordinator in 2011, he returned to New England in 2012.
"One thing I told my wife, this week especially, we're fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl now back-to-back, to play in an awesome game for the third time in four years", Schuplinski said, according to Boston Herald's Jeff Howe.
Patricia's Lions will host the Patriots at Ford Field.
"You realize when you're at this stage, there's a lot of great players and coaches, and you never know when you're going to get another opportunity".
