Redbarn Pet Products is voluntarily recalling it's Redbarn's 7-inch Bully Stick three pack, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

They are now investigating six complaints of illness and death in animals that have eaten the recalled products.

One child became seriously ill with septicemia (blood infection) and osteomyelitis, a painful and serious bone infection, FDA reported. The agency identified the bacteria while testing products made by the Minneapolis-based company. Bully Sticks chews for dogs manufactured by Redbarn Pet Products (Long Beach, Calif.) were recalled after a sample tested positive for salmonella.

PetSmart is also pulling Redbarn's bully sticks, officials said.

Similarly, Raws for Paws and Smokehouse pulled product due to the risk of salmonella contamination.

The FDA encourages consumers to report complaints about this and other pet food products electronically through the Safety Reporting Portal or by calling their state's FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinators.

In addition, lab analysis of closed packages of Darwin's pet food obtained by FDA from Judy on January 24 found Salmonella in the product.

"Raw pet food is more likely than other types of pet food to contain salmonella and listeria monocytogenes".

There were instances of illness in connection with Raws for Paws, which pulled its 5-pound and 1-pound chubs of ground turkey pet food, and none for Smokehouse, which recalled 4-ounce bags of its Beefy Munchies dog treats.
