Francis Coquelin is excited by the new challenge that awaits him at Valencia - but admits it is one he probably should have taken up six months ago.

Spanish topflight side Valencia have confirmed the signing of Francis Coquelin from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.

Arriving in the summer of 2008 from Stade Laval in France, Coquelin came through the ranks at Arsenal, making his debut in a League Cup tie with Sheffield United in September that year.

Coquelin's lack of action has made a January exit appear likely, with the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace reportedly keen on acquiring his services.

Vivian's younger brother, Paul Ponticello, spoke at the funeral service where he thanked people who ran to the family's aid. Jessica's parents died at the scene and her sister's life support was turned off three days after the two-car collision.

Meanwhile, Maitland-Niles has established himself in the first-team following injuries to Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal, which has left the Gunners light at full- back.

Coquelin, a two-time FA Cup victor at Arsenal has started only one Premier League game this season having fallen out of favour at the club since signing a new long-term contract last January. "He had an opportunity and I let him go", Wenger told reporters after the Chelsea match.

"Then we'll see. We have players injured. He is a defensive midfielder, basically", Wenger said after the game, as quoted by the Mirror.

'I think I was looking at it on TV yesterday, and they were saying who Arsenal can sign. "So that is as well as opening for him in midfield".
