Sony Michel took a direct snap, headed to his left, broke a tackle near the line of scrimmage and sprinted 27 yards for the winning touchdown as No. 3 Georgia advanced to its first national championship game with a 54-48 double-overtime victory over No. 2 Oklahoma on Monday in front of 92,844 in the Rose Bowl.

Oklahoma roared back, tying the game at 38 on a six-play, 80-yard drive with Mayfield hitting Dimitri Flowers in the back of end zone for an 11-yard scoring play.

Both teams kicked a field goal in the first overtime but Georgia blocked Oklahoma's field goal attempt in the second overtime, the pivotal moment in overtime.

The national championship game is January 8 in Atlanta. After Georgia made its first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1943 a rousing, heart-stopping success, the Bulldogs will play for their first national title since 1980.

"What a game, what an atmosphere", Georgia coach Kirby Smart told ESPN on the field after the game. The Sooners defense allowed 144.2 yards on the ground and gave up 20 or fewer points three times in their last four games.

He also noted that some people on the board were sworn back in as members earlier this year when their initial terms expired. Following that mass resignation, Trump was subjected to much criticism for his seeming inaction on the HIV front.

Chubb ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns. "He stretches and extends plays, extremely explosive, not afraid to make any throws". A touchdown would have sent the Sooners to Atlanta, but on a third-and-2 from the 17 Georgia All-America linebacker Roquan Smith nailed Jordan Smallwood a yard short of the first down. The 2017 conference title also marked a successful debut for first-year head coach Lincoln Riley, who replaced Bob Stoops following a surprise retirement in June.

Georgia: The Bulldogs came in with the sixth-best defense in the country, but Mayfield and the Sooners sliced it up in the first half, including a nifty reverse pass to the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback that made it 31-14 with 6 seconds left in the second quarter. "That was just kind of always one of those places that you kind of put on the bucket list as far as, want to go to that game one day, be involved in that game one day".

The Sooners were up 31-14, having scored on a trick play that resulted in quarterback Baker Mayfield catching a two-yard touchdown pass from receiver CeeDee Lamb with six seconds on the clock.

"It's just the competitive nature that's in us that keeps us pushing each other to be better", he said. OR scored 41 points in the secondhalf of the 2014 season's Rose Bowl semifinal against Florida State.
