Mercedes-Benz has released another teaser of the new G-Class

Note details like the external door-hinges, external front turn signals, tailgate-mounted spare tire and the plastic protective strip running the length of the body.

More fundamental changes have been carried out inside the auto, with the emphasis on quality. Now measuring 4715mm long and 1881mm wide, it is still more compact than its Range Rover rival, which measures 4999mm by 1983mm. The G-class is longer and wider, but also 170kg lighter, mostly steel but with wings, doors and bonnet now made of aluminium. Mercedes' intention is to provide greater comfort, technology and usable space and occupants while staying true to its utilitarian origins.

Mercedes-Benz says the goal was to improve the G-class's handling both on and off-road.

As standard, the SUV comes with analogue gauges, but these can be replaced with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster to complement the 12.3-inch infotainment display.

Hallmarks of the original G-Class include a grab handle in front of the front passenger and chrome switches for the three differential locks. The body shell is also stiffer than before, yielding improvements in all driving situations since the suspension can more effectively do its job. The additional width means extra shoulder room and elbow room in front and rear as well. The rear seats can be folded down to 40, 60 or 100 percent to haul skis, bikes, dogs or whatever is needed for the excursion.

Arrested After Woman Was Killed in Botched Murder-For-Hire Plot
Ishnar Marie Lopez, Alexis Ramos and Glorianmarie Quinones Montes are being held in the Osceola County Jail on murder charges. During the incident, Lopez-Ramos and Ramos-Rivera "realized that they had mistakenly taken the wrong person", he said.

From the outside, the new Geländewagen looks almost identical to the outgoing model.

Do you reckon this G-Wagen will one day be used to clone G-Wagens? There's all-new double-wishbone suspension at the front axle and a rigid rear axle (with trailing rods and a Panhard rod). By raising the axles, the G-Class now has a ground clearance of 241 mm between the axles, up by 6 mm. The maximum angle off approach is improved by one degree over the older truck. As part of a road connection redesign, the front suspension is now independent, though.

So, the basis of the vehicle will fall ladder-type frame and independent suspension on two wishbone suspension, specially developed by Mercedes-AMG.

But for those who still want to take the kids to school, the new G-Class offers five different driving modes, including a sober "eco" setting optimized to save a few pennies on gas. There are still three independently locking differentials and a low range gear. A new and improved steering system is also fitted. It is mated to a new automatic transmission, however, the 9-speed 9G-Tronic Mercedes says gets unique software controls for the application that will make the G-Class quieter and smoother driving, especially at low engine speeds. There's no specific plans to change that, with Mercedes not committing to a time frame for any pure-electric or hybrid variant. Adjustable dampers also come as an option in the 2019 model which should help widen the appeal of the traditionally rawer G-Wagen of yesteryear. The beefy engine would kick out 603bhp and 627lb ft of torque, a decent hike in power over its predecessor which had a larger 5.5-litre turbocharged V8.
