Kevin Love suffers fractured hand in Cavs loss

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love can expect an extended spell on the sidelines after he suffered a broken bone in his left hand against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

Love played just under five minutes before exiting Tuesday's contest against the Detroit Pistons to get X-rays on his left hand. He will not return to the game and his status moving forward remains unclear. This was Frye's third game of the season with double-digit points, but Love is expected to miss 6-8 weeks which puts him firmly on the radar.

"When it rains, it pours", coach Tyronn Lue said. With the Pistons up seven points with a little less than eight minutes to play, Kyle Korver hit a pair of 3-point shots on consecutive possessions around a Stanley Johnson free throw to pull Cleveland within two points.

James scored 21 points for the Cavs, but Cleveland was listless early and outplayed late - and the result felt secondary to Love's health. "Anytime you lose an all-star or you lose anybody, any part of your group, it's a tough blow".

Love was named to his fifth career All-Star game this year after averaging 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game on the season.

"Maybe, but I've got a lot more to my offensive game than DeAndre, so we're going to be able to do a lot of things beyond lobs", Drummond said.

The injury comes on the heels of Love's All-Star announcement, being one of the reserves on teammate LeBron James's team.
