Speaking with Sputnik Radio's Loud & Clear about Trump's threat to axe funding to the Palestinians, cofounder of The Electronic Intifada, Ali Abumimah, said it would be important to determine whether the funding cuts would hit UNRWA or the Palestinian Authority.
A statement issued by Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah said the request was to "alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza and to improve living conditions".

Israel has started work to fully restore electricity supplies to Gaza.
Even with the restoration the residents of Gaza will only have around six hours of electricity per day.
In April, Abbas announced he was cancelling the guarantee, part of a bid to press Hamas to loosen its hold over the enclave.
The PA's request coincides with heightened Israeli-Palestinian tensions.
