His declaration caused global reactions, both positive and negative, including the announcement by some countries of their plans to also move their embassies to Jerusalem.

Palestinian leaders have been sharply critical of Trump's decision.

Another speaker, Dr. Ghada Karmi, a Palestinian academic, writer and activist, argued that with the latest decision, the USA administration "has made very clear that Israeli and US interests are identical".

The main Arab party in the Israeli parliament warned that it would boycott Pence.

Before Israel, Pence has visited Egypt and Jordan on the trip.
