Salvation Army hoping to raise $45K on Saturday for Red Kettle Campaign

The anonymous match will end Monday, but the Red Kettle campaign continues through December 23.

They say in this year alone, there were 1,109 gifts donated for children in the Bowling Green area.

"I see so many children that are giving toys, that have been working all year round to just raise a little bit of money because they want to make a difference in the life of another child", she said.

"We haven't really been at Safeway very much, we haven't been at No Frills very much".

However, the Salvation Army officials learned in January that the building had been sold, and the organization needed to find a new site. Past year in MA, the Salvation Army provided more than 2.4 million meals, almost 200,000 nights of shelter, more than 67,000 days of child care, and 343,333 Christmas gifts for children. "We've never had some people at some locations because we haven't had enough volunteers", said Pilgrim. Bell ringer are out daily, except for Sundays. "My wife drove me to the office, but Captain Connelly told me we weren't going to try and go out that day, but at least I was there and ready", he said. It's to help with our Christmas work and it's also to help the ongoing work of the Salvation Army. The annual Christmas dinner will be held on Tuesday and the Salvation Army expects to feed 300 people.

The warehouse at 901 Trade St. has about 19,000 square feet, and the Salvation Army is using about half of that space. Other organisations such as the Learning Centre and National Disabilities Unit, as well as people who supported the Salvation Army, also received donations.
