Local media identified the two people killed as members of the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad.

Two Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday with authorities in the Hamas-run territory blaming an Israeli strike, but Israel's military immediately denied the claim, AFP reported.

"Despite the reports of the Palestinian side, the Israeli army did not launch strikes on northern Gaza strip", the statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces reads.

Violent clashes broke out Tuesday for the sixth consecutive day, with Palestinians reporting four being wounded in clashes along the border with Gaza.

According to a written statement from the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders emphasized the importance of Palestinian reconciliation as a "strategic option" in the face of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, as reported by Anadolu Agency (AA).

Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas missed a major deadline in their reconciliation bid by failing to transfer power in the Gaza Strip. Several rockets were fired from the coastal enclave into Israel over the past few days. The rockets launched by Hamas over Israel had intercepted by the Iron Dome missile shield, with no casualties being reported.

In October, seven Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces destroyed a tunnel in the strip's southern area.
