In what's likely to be his last collegiate game, Jackson should again impress with a dazzling performance. It definitely was Keytaon Thompson's coming-out party.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson became just the third player in FBS history to have at least 50 rushing and 50 passing touchdowns in his career during Saturday's Taxslayer Bowl against Mississippi State. - MSU interim head coach Greg Knox.

It was the ninth win of the year for 24th-ranked Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs weren't able to run out the clock and Louisville got the ball back with 1:39 left.

"We didn't care if he was a freshman". We're excited about the bowl game. "We knew we could scheme some things up for him to run the ball, and he could have success".

Louisville enters play at 8-4 (4-4) on the season. After a failed fourth-down conversation, Jackson got a final chance in the waning seconds, but his final desperation pass was batted away in the end zone. I think that's what you saw on the field.

A year after winning the Heisman Trophy, Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson finished third earlier this month behind victor Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) and runner-up Bryce Love (Stanford). Jackson has yet to declare for the National Football League draft, but most outsiders believe the dynamic junior will turn pro.

"It sucks not playing, but I'm going to try and help anyway I can", said Fitzgerald.

If he is leaving, he went out setting records.

And then there was this spectacular rushing touchdown to tie the game at 14 less than five minutes into the second quarter. Before halftime, he also broke his own school record from 2016 with 5,139 yards total offense this season, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Louisville WR Jaylen Smith had seven catches for 107 receiving yards.

But his interceptions overshadowed his improvisations. Jackson later raced 75-yards to set up a Cardinals' touchdown to take a 21-17 lead into the locker room.

Jackson, who hadn't thrown an interception since October, threw picks on back-to-back drives in the third quarter.
