A Sheriff's office in Nebraska have arrested an 80-year-old man after they say he and his wife were stopped driving along an interstate with 60lbs of marijuana in the back of their pickup.
Marijuana is high on one elderly couple's gift-giving list this holiday season.
York County sheriff's deputies said they found 60 pounds of marijuana inside the Jirons' vehicle.
Dogs went through 'drastic lifestyle' changes before mauling owner
When deputies found her body, they said she had suffered "severe trauma" and was being guarded by the two dogs. A man who used to work with Stephens said she loved the dogs and was experienced in working with animals.
Authorities reportedly saw the Toyota Tacoma's driver fail to signal and noticed the truck drift over the center line of the road. Officials said the marijuana had an estimated street value of over $300,000.
According to a report from NPR, they were heading to Boston and Vermont.
In 2015, Gov. Pete Ricketts, a Republican, called the substance "a unsafe drug", writing in a column: "As the use of marijuana has been legalized in some states, including our neighbor Colorado, we have been able to observe the impact the legalization of marijuana has had not only in their state, but as well as our own". Dealers found with drugs, that have not had their drug tax paid for, will face further charges - a way for the state to further punish dealers while making some revenue.
