The judge called those who spoke up about Nassar's abuse "superheroes" for doing so because sexual misconduct in America is "an epidemic". The school's gymnastics coach, Kathie Klages, was suspended and stepped down past year. Nassar agreed to lifetime electronic monitoring as part of the deal.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday addressing last week's comments that were viewed by some as victim shaming, Ms Douglas wrote: "It would be like saying that because of the leotards we wore, it was our fault that we were abused by Larry Nassar". But a school spokesman today says we recognize the pain sexual violence causes and deeply regret any time someone in our community experiences it.

He faces at least 25 years in prison, with his sentencing hearing set for January 12, where victims or their parents will be able to give victim impact statements.
