In the aftermath of the derailment, movement of trains was disrupted on the Patna-Allahabad route for several hours. Rail Minister Piyush Goyal has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the kin of the deceased.
The train going towards Patna, met with an accident at 4.18 am at the Manikpur Station. The engine of the Jammu-Patna Archana Express separated twice from the train near Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Anand Kumar said the derailment occurred due to a fracture in the railway tracks.
Medical relief is being provided to the injured besides, "patients have been admitted to Manikpur and Chitrakoot Hospital and Railway Minister has been closely monitoring the situation". As per the latest reports from the officials, total three people dead and nine people are injured in the train derailment.
Amit Malviya, North Central Railway PRO said, "The injured have been rushed to the hospital and officials have left for the spot". Also, INR 1 Lakh for those who are seriously injured in the accident.
