Officials in Tehama County say they're investigating at least seven crime scenes, one of which is an elementary school.

Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told Action News Now that he was told the suspected shooter was killed by law enforcement officers.

Johnston, of the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, told reporters that three weapons - a semi-automatic rifle and 2 handguns - had been recovered from the scene. The kids who were at the school are in a safe location, Johnston said.

"We made it aware that this guy is insane and he's been threatening us".

"I know that we have airlifted a number of students", an official said, referring to "airlifting" a number of victims to the hospitals.

Two children were among the wounded, it was confirmed.
