Sucker Punch's New IP is Samurai Action Game Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch will instead by tackling an entirely new genre with Ghost of Tsushima, a beautifully-rendered samurai game.

The game takes place during the year 1274, and thrusts players into the role of one of the last surviving Samurai after the Mongol Empire's invasion.

Ghost of Tsushima is the latest project from Sucker Punch Productions following 2014's Infamous: First Light, which acted as a prequel to the studio's previous effort Infamous: Second Son. No release year has been given for it yet but judging from the reveal, it is likely isn't going to make it next year.

The samurai-themed open world game is set in Japan, though the trailer didn't offer much beyond what amounts to great-looking graphics and the promise that it'll be touching down on PlayStation 4 in 2018. The trailer lets us know the stakes for defending the country are high, and we even hear a voice say, "You've trained your whole life for this". The game was recently revealed at Sony's Paris Games Week conference and it is confirmed for the PS4.
