Amazon Studios chief Roy Price has resigned, five days after he was placed on a "leave of absence" after a producer accused him of sexual harassment, an Amazon spokesperson told CNN.

McGowan added that Amazon Studios "called to say my show was dead" after she asked it "to do the right thing" over a tie-up with The Weinstein Company. Under Price, Amazon launched shows including "Catastrophe", "Bosch", and the Emmy-winning "Transparent".

Variety initially reported that Price would be replaced temporarily by Amazon Studios COO, Albert Cheng after allegations of sexual harassment. Price could not immediately be reached independently by Reuters and he declined to comment to the Hollywood Reporter.

Price was suspended indefinitely from his position at Amazon Studios on Thursday evening, the same day THR published its report.
