NFL Draft to Be Held in Dallas

This is the result of a comprehensive examination process over the past several months of plans submitted by various cities to host the 2018 NFL Draft. Those of you or us in Miami who are waiting on an NFL Draft party, don't hold your breath. The draft was held in Philadelphia this year and set an attendance record.

"We are very excited about the 2018 NFL Draft coming to Dallas", said Charlotte Anderson, the Cowboys' executive VP and chief brand officer.

With Philadelphia breaking the record for having the biggest attendance for the National Football League draft, you know that Jerry Jones couldn't have his division rival look good.

The 2019 draft coincides with the league's 100th season, and the 2020 event will recognize the centennial of the establishment of the NFL in Canton, Ohio, on August 20, 1920.

As many as representatives from 14 different cities reportedly were in Philadelphia before the 2017 draft to scout out the draft.

NY was the host city for the NFL Draft for 49 years before taking one of the biggest draft events in profressional sports on the road so fans across the country could partake in draft day festivities. It was the most-watched cable program of the week and the most-watched sports event of the week on both broadcast and cable networks.

The Draft, also known as the Player Selection Meeting, will be held over three days. In 2015-2016, it took place in Chicago. Rounds 2 and 3 will air Friday night while the final four rounds will take place on Saturday afternoon. The draft concludes with rounds 4-7 on April 28.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made the announcement today at the league's annual Fall Meeting, following a review of the proposal by the Super Bowl & Major Events Advisory Committee and full ownership.
