In a tweet Monday morning, Trump described the conversation as "very respectful" and claimed he spoke La David Johnson's name from the "beginning, without hesitation!"

"The president said that he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyways". "It made me cry, because I was very angry at the tone of his voice and couldn't remember my husband's name". "I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband's name, and that hurt me the most because if my husband is out here fighting for our country and he risks his life for our country, why can't you remember his name?"

CNN reports that Johnson, 25, was raised by his aunt and her husband in South Florida after Johnson's mother died in 1999. "Whatever Ms. Wilson said was not fabricated", Johnson said in her first interview since her husband's death.

La David Johnson, and three other US soldiers, were killed in combat in Niger on October 4 after ISIS-linked militants attacked them, according to the Associated Press.

Johnson said she has received little information from the military about how her husband died. He was buried on Saturday.

Pelosi said, "For them to mischaracterize her is really so sad". "Every time I asked to see my husband, they wouldn't let me". "I don't know what's in that box", she said. "It could be empty for all I know". But I need to see my husband.

Trump, meanwhile, called some of Wilson's claims "sickening."

"The phone was on speaker phone".

She added: "Everyone knows when you go to war, you could possibly not come back alive". However, Wilson stood by her claims of what she alleges Trump said and made sure to note that Myeshia's name is Myeshia Johnson, not "the wife" or "the woman", as Trump called Myeshia.
