The Gators cut the LSU lead to one with 1:45 left in the third.

On one fourth-quarter drive, Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Feleipe Franks found sophomore receiver Freddie Swain on a crossing pattern on third-and-three, but Swain failed to turn upfield and came up a yard shot.

LSU made strides and got the end result it badly needed with the win.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron met Monday with 12 players - at least one from each position group - to hash things out, and he sent those players back to their position groups for another series of meetings.

The skinny: Hammering Franks isn't fully warranted because Florida's receivers appeared to get owned by LSU's secondary.

The Tigers opened up a 14-point lead early in the third on Etling's 2-yard touchdown pass to Tory Carter and looked like they might pull away. The Gators marched 75 yards on seven plays after Lamical Perine punched in from two yards out for a 17-10 score.

The LSU band posted an explanation on its Facebook page Sunday, saying that the band has played at the end of the third quarter for the past several decades. I thought both teams played hard.

LSU finished with 216 yards on the ground, with Derrius Guice returning from injury to rush for 50 yards.

UF coach Jim McElwain knew the question was coming after the game, smiling and shaking his head as soon as he heard the words "jet sweep".

Following LSU's 17-16 win over Florida on Saturday, the LSU running back took to his Twitter account to ask the Florida coach a simple question. Gage had 52 yards on six carries. Though ultimately, it wasn't enough late in the game when the Gators had to pass.

LSU WR Derrick Dillon was ejected at the 5:43 mark for targeting and missed the remainder of the game.

Two weeks after a 30-point drubbing at Mississippi State — LSU's most lopsided setback in series history — the Tigers lost to a non-conference opponent at home for the first time since 2000.
