Two children were killed after their older brother stabbed them in an early-morning attack Tuesday, the Colorado Springs Police Department said.
The 19-year-old, Malik Vincent Murphy, has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.
All three were rushed to the hospital but doctors couldn't save the children. Their father is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive. It was not clear if he had a lawyer. He said he purchased the knife at a Walmart several months ago, according to the affidavit. The father told investigators that the teen had previously talked about killing the family. In March 2017, the teen was arrested for setting the family vehicle on fire at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. The parents told authorities that Murphy had severe mental health problems and they did not want him to prosecuted in the fire, Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler told WXEF-FM. Kibler did not return a call Tuesday seeking comment. A man was also stabbed, the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement.
Another Smart City Project, This Time It's Alphabet's Google in Toronto
A 220-page-long document outlining the Alphabet company's plans for Toronto's Eastern waterfront was released on Tuesday. The next step for Alphabet's Sidewalk Labs is making a 2,000 acre smart neighborhood in Toronto.
Two small children were found dead in what police are calling an "extremely gruesome" crime scene at a home in Colorado Springs, Colo. "They were great. They were just kids", she said.
Police spoke with Murphy briefly before arresting him, authorities said.
