Google is making a big deal about the sound quality of the Home Max, and focused specifically during the launch event on a newly designed system called Smart Sound, which automatically tunes the speaker based on where it is located. The Mini appears to be ready to do battle with Amazon's Echo Dot, while the Max looks to do battle with Apple's premium HomePod smart speaker. Now, Google Home is going to ease out the task to find out your device if you have lost it in your home.
Another bonus: Google Home users in the United Kingdom will be able to enjoy hands-free calling through the device later this year. Of course, you'll need to be pretty serious about your home audio setup to drop $800 on a pair of these speakers. It comes in chalk and charcoal. The search giant says the yarn for the fabric was developed exclusively for the devices to allow sound and light from the four status LEDs to pass through. Home Max employs two 4.5-inch woofers, which can extrude to an impressive 22mm to deliver improved bass, along with a pair of dedicated tweeters to complete the audio spectrum. The device is equipped with 4.5-inch woofers that the company claims are of the high-excursion variety and features a rigid case structure specifically created to maintain the compositional integrity of the audio it produces. The Max speaker comes with a "Smart Sound" technology.
Max also supports Cast, Bluetooth or stereo aux input. The firm's Wednesday hardware event hence managed to surprise many industry watchers, with the tech giant launching a gadget that's meant to be its most premium Google Assistant-enabled offering to date. However, there's no headphone jack like the Amazon Echo Dot.
Pre-orders are now available, and it will ship October 19.
