Miss America 2017 Recap: The Contestants Are Surprisingly Woke

Miss North Dakota, a 23-year-old who said President Donald Trump was wrong to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord, was named Miss America 2018 Sunday night in Atlantic City.

Update, 10:55 p.m.: Miss DC Briana Kinsey became the third runner up in the Miss America competition Sunday night.

Mund was set to take the traditional winner's morning-after dip in the Atlantic City ocean Monday morning outside Boardwalk Hall, where she won the crown.

Cara was one of 51 contestants in the pageant judged according to talent, evening wear, lifestyle, fitness and their answer to an on-stage question. Mund said during the pageant that her mother is her biggest role model.

Cara Mund bagged the crown after competing against 50 beauties from different states.

'I wasn't really afraid if my opinion wasn't the opinion of my judges, ' she said. This would make her the first elected female governor of the state.

The Panel for the final competitions is country singer, Thomas Rhett; model, Molly Sims; singer and actress, Jordin Sparks; Olympic gold medalist, Tara Lipinski. etc.
