Coming October 4: The Google Pixel 2

The first being the Pixel 2, made by HTC, features a familiar design with big bezels like the original Pixel. The company is now working towards their gen-next Pixel smartphones - Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Apart from this, today the Pixel 2 XL the larger one of the Duo passed via FCC.

The original Pixel from Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL, NASDAQ:GOOG) was unveiled on October 4th previous year. Instead of waiting for users to mail their defective phones, Google will gladly send the replacement units immediately after obtaining a report about the problematic device.

This is according to a webpage and video published by Google, asking users if they are interested in getting a new smartphone.

The filing doesn't reveal much about the phone but offers a sign that Google and its Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 partners are making headway on the expected October announcement.

We recently heard that the new Pixel 2 smartphone will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and not the rumored 836.

Available ports include 2 USB 3.0, 1 HDMI, 2 USB Type-C and a card reader that supports either an SDHC or SD or SDXC card. To top that up, Xiaomi is using a symmetrical super cooling system to keep the temperature under control on the inside.

As for the video teasing the October 4 announcement, it's a series of questions that hint at some of the problems the Pixel 2 will likely solve: battery life, storage, blurry photos, AI, automatic updates, slowness (performance), heat, durability, etc.

Google's Pixel smart phones are the only major flagship smartphones that are up for launch now, as all the major awaited flagships of this year have been released already. A Google billboard in Boston is the one that suggests this launch date.

Search giant Google has officially confirmed it will be launching its upcoming smartphones - expected to be called Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL - on October 4. Rumor has it Google is following Apple's lead and ditching the headphone jack in the Pixel 2.

The Pixel XL 2 will reportedly measure 5.9 inches and will include a screen that has an 18:9 aspect ration.
