Xiaomi's Mi 7 is likely to boast several top-of-the-line features, and a recent move by the Chinese tech giant hints at a big feature coming its way. Other smartphone makers that have adopted the Qi wireless charging standard include Samsung, LG, HTC, Huawei, Motorola, BlackBerry and Sony.
There are indications that Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone could feature wireless charging.
Worldwide diplomacy continues at United Nations over N Korea crisis
China and Russian Federation only agreed to the new United Nations sanctions after they were softened by the US. In the past, Trump hit out at the " talk of appeasement with North Korea " by the current Moon administration.
Xiaomi's listing as the WPC member on the official WPC website suggests that the next flagship will support wireless charging. The support for wireless charging also hints at another key feature, which is glass back design - essential for Qi standard wireless charging. The AirPower only supports the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 3 and the second-generation AirPods charging case.
Still, Xiaomi company has not officially confirmed its intention to joining the consortium. Nearly all major global smartphone makers including Nokia, Google, Samsung, LG and Apple are part of this consortium. It might switch from the Mi 6's LCD screen to a Samsung-made AMOLED one measuring 6 inches across. It might have been nice to have wireless charging available for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, adding to the premium nature of the edge-to-edge screened handset. Those rumours were confirmed On September 12 when Apple unveiled the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the highly anticipated iPhone X with Qi wireless charging capabilities. It's worth noting that Qualcomm had a plan of enabling wireless charging on metal devices as well, but that plan never came to fruition, though who knows, maybe it will in the future.
