Since the time, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish made a decision to switch sides and align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a fresh government in the state, Sharad, the former president of the JD (U), has been openly criticising the saffron party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"People voted for Mahagathbandan and Nitish has betrayed 11 crore people by breaking Mahaganthbandan and joining hands with BJP", Sharad Yadav said.

Party sources said that CM Nitish Kumar was unhappy with Yadav over his public remarks expressing his reservations with the developments that transpired last month.

Earlier, Lalu called Nitish Kumar a "palturam" and termed his alignment with the NDA a case of "NaMo sharnam gachhami".

"I was personally hurt and pained by (the decision)", he said.

The veteran socialist leader added, "It is probably for the first time in country's 70-year-old democratic history that two parties or alliances, which fought against each other with separate manifestos, later came together with combined manifesto".

"I am still with the grand alliance".

The JD-U has distanced itself from Sharad Yadav's tour, with its state chief Vashisht Narain Singh calling it a "personal initiative".

Sharad Yadav has kickstarted his three-day Jan Samvad Yatra today and will meet the people of Bihar to discuss the repercussions of the withdrawal of the grand alliance in the state.

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi led a "Janadesh Apman Yatra" in Motihari on the anniversary of "Quit India Movement" on Wednesday. What Sharad Yadav is doing is against the party. The JD-U will instead set him up for a fall; a suspension from the party will mean that Sharad Yadav will be disqualified if he does not follow formal party orders or whips to support the BJP-led government in Parliament.

"People of the Sarkari (official) Janata Dal have become the Chief Minister and Ministers in Patna and then there is the real Janata Dal among the masses", Sharad Yadav said. I consider it a responsibility to maintain my stand. Calling his statements unfortunate, the party's general secretary K C Tyagi said Yadav may face disciplinary action in the party meeting on August 19. Both are in close touch with Sharad Yadav in Delhi. Even on way to Muzaffarpur, he was received by Sonepur RJD MLA and other RJD leaders at different places. Nitish ji has insulted the mandate given in favour of Mahagathbandhan of RJD, JD (U) and Congress for his own ambition and desire to remain in power.

"Nitish Kumar has broken the trust of 11 crore people".
