The Playstation 4 5.0 update to the console's firmware is nearly upon us, and Playstation has said that there are going to be a number of improvements such as allowing streaming on Twitch at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, interface improvements, and more to improve the content sharing experience for gamers. Currently, the console allows for Shareplay and Remote Play in 1080p.
As well, PS4 owners will soon get Xbox One-like functionality in the form of being able to follow any user's account. Right now, the only accounts you can follow are verified accounts, which are mostly made up by official game accounts, developers, and popular Youtubers.
For developers, the change is to "boost the viral potential of UGC". Decide whether you only want existing friends to follow you or block other users altogether. This means you don't have to fill up your friends list in order to get updates. There can now be multiple adult accounts, and these can set parental locks on specific accounts so personalize the communications, content, and spending limit of each child.

He also claimed to have had no role in wider decision-making at Samsung and "mostly listened to other executives". But it eventually went through after the national pension fund - a major Samsung shareholder - approved it.
There will be a new web application to manage family accounts, and access parental controls/family membership options from your PC and smartphone. Adult accounts can also send requests to each other to join the same family.
One small but handy change is that system notifications will now be visible from the Quick Menu, so you don't need to return to the Home screen each time. Downloads can also be checked using Quick Menu.
There are more changes coming to the PS4 Pro, such as support for new languages: Czech, Thai, Greek, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Romanian and Hungarian.
A release date has been provided for PS4 firmware 5.0.
