A fighter-bomber of the fleet air arm in the us has had to make a sudden manoeuvre to avoid a drone, iran has approached to about thirty metres while attempting to land on an aircraft carrier, said Tuesday the american navy.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that despite repeated radio calls to stay clear of the United States plane, the Iranian drone "executed unsafe and unprofessional altitude changes" close to the USA navy F/A-18E. Tuesday's incident, which occurred in global airspace, US officials said, is an unsettling development for that reason, and it marks the latest in a series of threatening encounters between the two militaries.
The "QOM-1" drone came within 100 feet below the aircraft and 200 feet to the side of the aircraft.
The U.S. used an emergency radio frequency in the immediate area to warn those operating the drone to back away. It did eventually move off.
Tuesday's drone incident was the 13th unsafe or unprofessional maritime encounter with Iran of 2017, the newspaper reported. This created a collision hazard and "is not in keeping with worldwide maritime customs and laws", according to the Navy.
Corroded beam caused fatal Ohio State Fair accident, ride maker says
The Great Allentown Fair once featured a smaller version, but it is no longer in the fair's ride package, a state official said. The deadly Fire Ball accident at the Ohio State Fair last month was caused by "excessive corrosion", says the ride maker.
The official described the interaction as "unsafe and unprofessional".
The encounter between the U.S. Navy and Iranian aircraft follows a series of close calls in the Persian Gulf between naval vessels.
In July, a US Navy patrol ship fired warning shots at an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps boat in the Gulf as it closed in on the American vessel.
The incident comes after a series of confrontations between U.S. and Iranian vessels in the Persian Gulf.
