Statewide average gas prices rise 13 cents

According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on July 10 in NY state have ranged widely over the last five years: $2.39 per gallon in 2016, $2.93 in 2015, $3.92 in 2014, $3.72 in 2013 and $3.63 in 2012.

AAA Northeast said Monday that the price of self-serve, regular is averaging $2.17 per gallon.

Including the change in gas prices in Oklahoma City during the past week, prices yesterday were 1 cent per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 1.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. A year ago, the average was $2.35.

The average price was unchanged in Caledonia, at $2.37 for a second consecutive week. A year ago, the state average was $2.41. That's three cents more than it was last week, a news release stated.

AAA expects demand to grow as the summer driving season continues after weeks of lows. Oil prices made steady gains, increasing from $42.53 to $47.07 during the course of 13 days, raising the cost of producing gasoline, AAA reported.

The price of gasoline in Rhode Island is down a penny.

"However, prices at the pump barely had time to respond before oil slumped back below $45 on Wednesday", the auto club said. "That would put a ceiling on gas prices of about $2.50 if the forecast holds".
