Seven of the victims were Special Ops Forces based in North Carolina.

Name of those who were killed in this crashed has not been yet made public. "The cause of the crash is unknown at this time; the incident is under investigation".

A Middletown man was one of 15 Marines and one Navy corpsman killed when an air tanker crashed in MS on Monday.

"Our focus remains on providing the necessary resources and support to the family and friends of these services members as they go through this extremely hard time", the New York Air National Guard said in a statement. The aircraft was ferrying the team of Marine Raiders from an airfield in North Carolina to predeployment training in Yuma, Ariz., and was also carrying the group's small arms and accompanying ammunition.

Debris from the crash covered both sides of Highway 82 in the MS delta, between the towns of Itta Bena and Moorehead, Miss.
