Ghost Recon Wildlands is getting a brand new PvP multiplayer mode called Ghost War. Now that I've had a taste of the new Ghost Recon, I couldn't imagine going back.

No, Ubisoft isn't adding in Dark Souls-style squad invasions for when you and your buddies are roaming the open world (that's what Playerunknown's Battlegrounds is for). What was really missing from the game was the ability to hunt other players in a PvP mode. Prior to the start of a match, each player will choose one of six classes such as Scout, Sniper, or Tank.

The difference this time around seems to be a single pilot system, as opposed to the dual-pilot required in the first movie. Watch the teaser for Uprising , which hits theaters February 23, 2018 , in the player below.

Most people on dedicated gaming communities hate the game, and most critics barely acknowledged it- but the most successful game of the year so far has been Ghost Recon: Wildlands, which Ubisoft released in March this year, and which remains the highest selling title worldwide of this year so far. Said battlefields will be large-scale, open maps in which you'll hunt and take down your enemies with your squad. This is a 4v4 deathmatch mode, where players will face off in small teams and use their skill, their gadgets, teamwork, and strategy to emerge victorious. Players can utilize new PvP-specific mechanics to try and get the upper hand, including suppressing fire and sound markers, which could mean that sound plays a pretty big role in Ghost War as it does in many modern competitive tactical shooters.

Though far from ideal, Ghost Recon Wildlands is one of the most effective franchise reboots in recent memory.
