The Pacers have agreed to trade SF C.J. Miles to the Toronto Raptors for PG Cory Joseph, according to an ESPN report. They re-signed Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry, then unloaded DeMarre Carroll's contract to the Brooklyn Nets.

Formerly dubbed the "Junkyard Dog", DeMarre Carroll was once a fan favorite as a member of the Utah Jazz.

Miles, a 12-year veteran who can play both wing positions, averaged almost 11 points per game last year while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.

Carroll had two years and $30 million left on his current contract.

For the Pacers, the consistent and defensively-solid Joseph fits with their plan to rebuild after trading Paul George to Oklahoma City, ESPN notes. Yes, he's owed $30-million over the next two seasons, but Brooklyn had plenty of cap space to take the hit. That transaction is pending the completion of the Washington Wizards matching Brooklyn's $106 million offer sheet for Otto Porter Jr. In conjunction with shedding Joseph's contract, that makes the Raptors' payroll much more manageable. Barely used Hamilton for a 1st, 2nd round picks and Carroll.

The Raptors selected Anunoby with the 23rd overall pick in the draft last month. The deal won't be officially announced until the Nets' work out their salary-cap situation. Carroll will join D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov as the new guys on the team who will look to lead the Nets back to respectability. Last season, the starting gig at the 3 went to rookie Caris LeVert for the final 25 games of the season.

The Toronto Raptors have traded away small forward DeMarre Carroll along with a future first and second pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Justin Hamilton.

It is unclear if Hamilton will have any role with Toronto for the coming season with a backlog of players at centre including Jonas Valanciunas, Lucas Nogueira and Jakob Poeltl. Atkinson used the severely undersized Hollis-Jefferson as a slash-4 (it would be a stretch to call him a stretch-4 given his abysmal shooting stats) last season, so I would expect Carroll to play up in certain small-ball configurations.
