A UPS employee opened fire at one of the company's package delivery facilities in San Francisco on Wednesday, killing three co-workers and then himself as officers closed in and workers ran frantically into the streets, police and company officials said.
"Hayward Cook, who described himself as a UPS human resources manager, said he was interviewing people in a conference room when he heard five gunshots".
A woman named Michelle, who did not want to provide her last name, was walking to work across the street from a UPS facility when she saw several UPS employees running down the street.
The San Francisco Office of Emergency Services said 911 calls began coming in around 9 a.m. of an active shooter at the massive UPS facility. The gunman, identified by multiple sources to I-Team reporter Dan Noyes, was UPS employee Jimmy Lam. San Francisco police have not released the identity of the shooter.
"We can not provide information as to the identity of persons involved at this time, pending the police investigation".
A long column of two rows of UPS employees were escorted out of the building by armed police officers, KPIX-TV reported.
In its statement, UPS said the company wasn't immediately sure of the status of the survivors who were taken to the hospital.

San Francisco police are inside the UPS warehouse searching for additional victims and witnesses.
He declined to release any information on the number of causalities or say it was an active shooting incident.
Uniformed UPS employees are being led out in a line by officers next to a highway.
Police said the building was secure but did not offer details on the victims.
The shooting Wednesday led to a massive police response and a shelter-in-place warning for the surrounding area.
