Lionel Messi has confirmed that he wants to hang up his boots at Barcelona amid reports claiming that the Argentina worldwide is set to commit his long-term future to the Nou Camp by signing a new deal.

The Argentinie international's current deal expires at the end of the next season.

It is understood Messi's new pay packet will vary from year to year based on numerous factors.

This means Messi will be at the Catalan club at least until 2021 and his new deal will include a release clause of €400m (£347.2m, $450m).

His existing deal expires in 2018 - meaning the La Liga giants run the risk of losing the five-time Ballon d'Or victor for NOTHING if an agreement could not be reached.

Dubbed the "Wedding of the Decade", some of the biggest names in Latin American showbiz and the football world are expected to converge in Rosario, including Colombian popstar Shakira, wife of Messi's Barcelona teammate Gerard Pique.
