In a tweet Thursday afternoon, Trump suggested that it was unfair for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to investigate possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

The FBI is also conducting a parallel probe, which reportedly includes special counsel Robert Mueller looking into whether the president obstructed justice.

Shortly afterward, Trump wrote: "Crooked H destroyed phones with hammer, "bleached" emails, and had husband meet with AG days before she was cleared- and they talk about obstruction?"

The move by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump's conduct marks a major turning point in the almost year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. "Also, is it true that the DNC would not let the Federal Bureau of Investigation in to look?" he tweeted in March.

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice", he tweeted just before 7 a.m.

In a pair of earlier tweets, Trump called the investigation "phony" and the "greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history". Trump rhetorically asked in a tweet.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", Corallo told the Guardian.
