Dani Alves appears to be days away from a reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City after Juventus agreed to rescind his contract, allowing the 34-year-old the chance to pursue his ambition of playing in the Premier League.

Alves has since been linked with a move to City and Chelsea, having spent just one season in Turin after joining the club on a free transfer from Barcelona in June 2016.

The former Barcelona man played a starring role in Juve's double-winning campaign that also saw them reach the Champions League final, but news surfaced that he wants to reunite with former boss Pep Guardiola at Barcelona at Manchester City. "Music's my passion, football's a hobby", he told Conversa com Bial.

But although Alves made a decision to go with another club, Marotta said that they still wish him luck.

City have already signed Ederson and Bernardo Silva and Guardiola has said he's happy with the business they've done.

Manager Pep Guardiola must look to boost his options in both full back positions, given that right backs Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna were both released at the end of last season, as was left back Gael Clichy.

"I'm looking for a player that doesn't play golf, so they can be focused".

When he was asked about his free-transfer from the Serie A champions he replied; "I don't know what's happening".
