Silver Sable And Black Cat nabs Beyond The Lights' Gina Prince-Bythewood

The studio has just hired The Secret Life of Bees, Love and Basketball, and Beyond the Lights director Gina Prince-Bythewood to direct their Black Cat and Silver Sable movie, which now has an official title.

Silver and Black is being produced by Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal, with a script by Lisa Joy (creator of Westworld) and Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok). In the comics, Silver Sable and Black Cat frequently cross paths with Spider-Man - sometimes as an adversary, sometimes as an ally - but Silver and Black is being treated as a standalone film, not a Spidey crossover.

Palak Patel and Eric Fineman are overseeing "Silver Sable and Black Cat" for Columbia Pictures.

Created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz, Silver Sable is a war-criminal-hunting mercenary, CEO of her own company, and leader of the Wild Pack.

Sony is really getting to work on their Spider-Man spin-offs. Her alter ego, Felicia Hardy, briefly appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2, ' played by 'Rogue One" star Felicity Jones.

The report comes on a day when Pakistan Army claimed that it destroyed an Indian post. "It is totally baseless and misleading". Pakistan media has claimed that its air force flew Mirage jets near Siachen during recent war exercises.


"Silver & Black" is the latest Spidey-related endeavor for Sony, with "Spider-Man: Homecoming", starring Tom Holland, premiering July 7, and "Venom", starring Tom Hardy as the sometimes villain, sometimes anti-hero, hitting theaters October 5, 2018.

Sony is rebooting Spider-Man this summer with Spider-Man: Homecoming and hopes to launch a slate of Spider-Man-related movies. The announced Venom movie with Tom Hardy and now this will stand apart from the MCU.

Prince-Bythewood is repped by CAA and Del Shaw.

Gina is no stranger to the world of comic book adaptations - she recently filmed the pilot for the upcoming Cloak & Dagger TV series, featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
