The village had launched their weekly march following Friday prayers in solidarity with the hundreds of Palestinian prisoners on their 26th day of a mass hunger strike across Israeli prisons.

The Media Committee of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' society, present the summary of the twenty fourth day of the collective hunger strike, which was embarked by the prisoners' movement in the Israeli jails, under the title of "Freedom and Dignity strike" since 17th April, 2017.

The ministry says the protesters sustained light leg injuries from low caliber bullets at Thursday's rally, during which some Palestinians threw rocks at Israeli soldiers.

The strike is being led by Marwan Barghouti, a former leader of Fatah - a rival political faction in the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

Some see the hunger strike as a strategic political move by Barghouti, who it is believed is wanting to demonstrate his influence on the Palestinian street ahead of a bid to succeed PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

Earlier this week, Israel's prison service released footage to illustrate their point.

Organisers of the Red Carpet Human Rights Film Festival, running for the third time since 2015, say the goal is to raise awareness of hardship in the Gaza Strip, home to nearly two million Palestinians.
