Xiaomi has expanded its portfolio of budget smartphones in India and launched today Redmi 4 at an event in New Delhi.

Redmi 4 comes in three variants - 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM, 3GB + 32GB, and 4GB + 64GB, and is expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card.

At this wide price bracket, Xiaomi Redmi 4 offers features such as a 5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 435 processor, Android 6.0.1-based MIUI 8 software, and 4100mAh battery.

Both the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime bear identical metal unibody designs, 2.5D curved glass displays, hybrid dual-SIM slots, and a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel, but have some major differences in specifications such as display resolution, memory, processor, and inbuilt storage.

Now, Redmi 4 comes in a matte black variant, similar to the Redmi Note 4, and there's a gold colour variant as well. On the back of the phone is a 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection Auto Focus technology.

Redmi 4 - the successor to Redmi 3S - will be priced Rs 6,999 onwards. "With awesome smart features and a game-changing price, Mi Router 3C is set to disrupt the router market in India".

Even more significant, however, is that this marks the search giant branching out from its standard Android Auto offering. The mission established by the partnership is to revolutionise how Volvo customers engage and interact with their cars.

Eager buyers in Bengaluru can pre-book the Redmi 4 at Rs 1000 via Xiaomi's site and pick it up via the Mi Home store on launch day.

It is the third device which launched in India this year. Connectivity options in the phone are 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB port. Furthermore, you can connect to up to 20 computing devices and 44 IoT devices including the Mi Air Purifier.

The router also comes with the metering feature that will let users limit the bandwidth for each device and also block other devices deemed suspicious.

The Mi Router 3C is a 2x2 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n router with a combined up/down transfer speed of 300Mbps. We sold more than 4 million units of Redmi 3S during the life cycle of the product.
