His Champions League displays have helped Atletico reach the last four in confident fashion and Real will struggle to contain him.

Real Madrid attacker Isco has insisted that his team will have to be at their best to overcome capital rivals Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League. They are very good at getting the best out of their side.

The second leg is next week at Atletico's Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Seemingly unbeatable at one point this season - they went 40 games unbeaten in all competitions - Real Madrid have started to slip in recent weeks. Real Madrid eclipsed Bayern Munich with a 6-3 aggregate win to punch their ticket to the semis.

"The players have looked at the rival we will play in the Champions League, but the league does not allow you to be distracted", said Simeone in regards to maintaining focus in La Liga despite having to face a tough Real Madrid in the Champions League once again. The heroics of Diego Godin was just enough for Atletico as fate suddenly took a U-turn and Real Madrid were crowned champions for the tenth time. The live match will be telecasted on BT Sport and the highlights of the match Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid will be shown on the same channel at midnight.

And of course, who can forget one of the most thrilling Champions League final - the one in 2013-14 season - where Sergio Ramos gave a deadly blow to Atletico Madrid in the 93rd minute, equalising the tie that Real won in extra time eventually. Since Diego Simeone took over, Atletico have kept 27 clean sheets in the Champions League whereas Real Madrid have kept 22 in the same time duration. Although it is worth noting that two defeats were in the last two games. The rivalry with Atleti hasn't changed since I was a player. For Atletico, this is a chance to finally get some vengeance on Los Blancos.

Previous year saw Atleti come within sight of glory once again before seeing it snatched away - this time on penalties, again to Real.

Marcelo's late victor gave Real Madrid a 2-1 win over Valencia at the weekend and kept them within touching distance of La Liga leaders Barcelona.

"They have caused us difficulties, but so have many teams".

Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez is expected to miss the Champions League semifinals because of a leg muscle injury.

"It will be a very complex game", Simeone said.

"We have a lot of desire and ambition to do things well and keep going in this competition".

Gimenez was deputising for the injured Juanfran at right back but with both options gone, Lucas Hernandez will have to play in an unnatural full-back role. I feel it facing any side - irrespective of the match and opposition.

Atletico is trying to win its first title.
