Bengals getting backlash over drafting RB Joe Mixon

The Bengals will look for a pass rusher on the second day of the draft.

Bengals owner Mike Brown is known for taking troubled players.

Jones-Drew wasn't knocking any of the three likely first-round tailbacks in Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook, either.

The Mixon pick is, at best, another example of the franchise's tendency for giving players second chances, but the pick is another example of the franchise's habit of overlooking off-the-field trouble to get on-the-field talent.

Mixon was arrested in July, 2014 and charged with misdemeanor assault for punching a woman in the face and breaking four bones. He's scored 21 total touchdowns over that span, but he's rushed for an average of 222 carries for 817 yards (3.6-yards per carry) in 2015 and 2016. Mixon had 1,812 yards from scrimmage and 15 scores in 2016.

BUSY DAY: The Bengals had nine picks on Saturday and tried to upgrade their defensive line, which had trouble getting pressure on the passer last season. He returned and had two impressive seasons, turning into an All-Big 12 performer while setting a school record for all-purpose yards in a season.

At 100 days in, Trump seems both outsider and insider
On Monday, Trump's campaign announced a $1.5 million television ad that's goal is to hype up the first 100 days of his presidency. He then suggested that he might attend the dinner next year - but added that he might consider returning to Pennsylvania.

Current Oklahoma student Amelia Molitor, settled with Mixon on her accusation of intentional infliction of emotional stress.

"I dunked on a couple people", he said. I'm so proud of you. "It really meant a lot to her for me to come in and acknowledge what happened that night, and she did the same thing, and I've got nothing but respect for that". That's not the way I was raised. "I greatly appreciate his apology and I think the feelings he expressed were honest". I know I have to keep working to be a better person, and this is another step in that direction. "I'm looking forward to doing that with the Cincinnati Bengals as well". He was so overcome, I think. And adding him to an offense that already has A.J. The former Oklahoma running back was selected as the 48th overall pick.

"I'm still sitting here crying", he told reporters after being drafted. "At the end of the day, I'm going to try to do whatever I can to move forward". In an article by ESPN Mixon said, "I was very straight up", with the Bengals regarding the 2014 incident. "Instead of buying a Bengals ticket this year, take the $50 or more you would have spent on that ticket and donate the money to a nonprofit that works to prevent violence against women".

"My head nearly came off my shoulders", the former Washington receiver said in a conference call shortly after the Cincinnati Bengals made him the No. 9 selection Thursday night.

Ross made history in March when he ran a record-setting 4.22-second 40-yard dash at the National Football League scouting combine in Indianapolis.
