'Baahubali 2' collects over Rs 400 crore in opening weekend

Even before the release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion - director SS Rajamouli's magnum opus had broken box office records. Over the weekend the domestic collection of the film stands at almost Rs 222 crore.

The film, which has undoubtedly set new benchmarks in the history of Indian Cinema by breaking the record of highest Day 1 collection previously held by Sultan and Dangal, continues its winning streak. The film has in its opening weekend itself grossed more than 500 Cr as a result.

The film has grossed RS 120-crore in its opening weekend in the worldwide markets. "Highest Monday ever." Not just in India, the film is doing great business internationally too. While Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has earned $ 10.13 million (Rs 65 crore) in its first weekend, The Circle has earned $ 9.32 million (Rs 59.8 crore).

Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted, "The *Hindi version* of #Baahubali2 BULLDOZES *all* records with KNOCKOUT biz on Monday..." Directed by SS Rajamouli and jointly produced by Shobu Yarlagadda, Kovelamudi Raghavendra Rao and Prasad Devineni, the sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Baahubali: The Beginning stars Telugu superstar Prabhas and Anushka Shetty in lead roles. However, the makers took time and released the film on April 28 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. According to early estimates, it has minted around Rs. 12 crore. Its gross domestic collections are put at Rs 230 crore. The first day looks to be closing in the 35-40 crore nett range for the Hindi version.

On Thursday, Baahubali 2 was premiered in over 3,000 screens around the world and it went housefull in all those centres.

All the three versions of the film were screened in 31 screens across Chennai (20 for Tamil) and they enjoyed 100% occupancy for all shows in all screens.

The second part of Baahubali has shattered records across India.
